Hello Sweetie

A Winter Piece 25/26

This work had to be made. I craved vibrant colour and the rich, tactile pleasure of a delicious dessert translated into paint — a feast for the eyes that felt necessary in my kitchen. The discovery of "Un dessert de cheffe au féminin" — a grand meringue aux clémentines, by Caro Diario, featured in Vogue — Oh, what an indulgent confection, I’ll take it! With its glossy peaks and sunlit citrus, both subject and catalyst. Bold pigments layered and scraped to echo crisp meringue ridges, sugared highlights that catch the light like candied zest, and textures that invite touch. It was less a literal study than an invitation to translate culinary decadence into visual joy, to give my kitchen a painting that tastes of colour and comfort and humour.
