The Oracle | Part One
A few years ago, I began pondering the idea of creating my very own oracle. Inspired by so many artists and, in particular, by the Faerie Oracle by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth. I was given the set as a gift at age 16 by my mother. This was over 20 years ago now. All these years later, I still go to them for readings when in doubt or confusion.
Once I began to work on the first group, which is presently named ‘Royals’ in pencil and ‘Abstract Beings’ in collage, I realised the process of divination could take much longer than I first anticipated. The casting of the cards flowed as with a compass. I felt at ease. I wanted to create intuitively and openly and without self-judgment.
So far, 14 Abstracts and 12 Royals of the 62 have emerged.
A white light background is a gentle yet striking reminder of awakening and renewal. This canvas invites exploration, its purity creating a serene atmosphere that allows the art to breathe. The minimalist approach reinforces this message, stripping away distractions to focus on form and essence.
Large, grand shapes emerge, carefully curated from exquisite fashion copy prints. Each line and silhouette speaks to the elegance of design, inviting the viewer to contemplate the interplay between art and the human experience. The selected prints, rich in narrative and style, contribute a layer. In good time, a book shall accompany the 52 cards.

CHAOS CLOUD
Upheaval, Transformation, Creative Disruption, Seasonal Energy, Alchemy
Visual Elements:
The card bursts with vibrant motion: black storm clouds speckled with white marks swirl above a cascade of jewel-toned circles, teardrops, and fragmented shapes.
A dragonfly hovers mid-transition, a symbol of change, clarity, and light emerging from the storm. The composition is alive with energy, rhythm, and layered meaning, mirroring the nature of chaos itself.
Card Meaning
The card signals a period of radical transformation. This card embodies the energy of disruption as a necessary force. It shakes the foundations, reveals what’s outdated, and scatters illusions so that renewal can begin. Just like the seasonal storms of Spring and Summer, it clears what has stagnated to make space for growth. This may feel uncomfortable, even disorienting, but it is not without purpose.
The dragonfly, emerging after the storm, promises that beauty and insight await on the other side of the turbulence. You are in the thick of something that may not make sense now, but trust that a clarity is forming.
Message to Querent
Don’t resist the shake-up. Let it strip away what no longer belongs. The more you surrender to the winds of change, the quicker you’ll find yourself standing in a new light. Trust that chaos has intelligence, and your soul knows how to navigate it.
Reversed Meaning:
When reversed, Chaos Storm warns of resisting change or clinging to the familiar out of fear. It may indicate emotional overwhelm, avoidance of conflict, or letting change become destruction rather than transformation. You may need to pause, breathe, and refocus your energy before acting. Allow the storm to pass before making decisions.

THE ARRIVAL
Messenger, Animal Communication, Preservation, Shapeshifting, Earth, Ally
Visual Elements:
The figure is abstract, alien yet humanoid, with a crystaline or icy head-suggesting clarity, otherness and elevated perception.
The vibrant rainbow-striped backpack implies cosmic travel and a mission grounded in peace, diversity, and harmony.
The bird (a Woodpecker) perched on the figure’s hand symbolizes rhythmic communication, persistence, and attunement to the natural world.
An unfamiliar presence emerges, but it brings no fear-only deep stillness and a connection to something older than time. This is the energy of the visitor who is not truly a stranger. Whether newly arrived or longforgotton, this being carries wisdom born of listening, of watching, of deep attunement to the natural world. You are stepping into unknown territory, but you may find that what feels alien is simply a part of you returning home. Trust your instincts, let the wonder guide you.
Card Meaning
This card signal the arrival of something or someone new-and transformative. It may represent an aspect of yourself emerging that feels unfamiliar but is deeply wise and attuned to nature. You may be stepping into the role of a communicator, protector, or translator between different realms. Be it whether literal (animals, nature) or metaphorical (between people, roles or states of being).
You are not alone in your mission. Something or someone has entered your life to support you in a protective, guilding way. Remain open to communication across unusual channels. Your presence and empathy have power in restoring balance and protecting what is sacred.
Reversed Meaning
When reversed the card suggests disconnection, miscommunication, or resistance to the unfamiliar. You may be ignoring a message from nature or spirit, or feeling like an outsider in your own life. This card warns against retreating into isolation or dismissing what feels “alien” simply because it’s new or uncomfortable.
You might be blocking vital insight because it doesn’t arrive in a familiar form. Take time to ground yourself and reconnect with the rhythms of nature. Trust that what seems strange may actually hold the key to your growth. You are being called to realign with your role as an open-hearted listener and protector.

Circular Pink and White Sun/Moons, emotional cycles, illumination, or inner energy centres (Chakras ).
Striped Triangle pointing to the left, to the past. The stripes echo the fabric above, linking the start of the storm to its resolution. What no longer serves you?
Meaning
The card speaks of a paradox: a disruptive force that ultimately restores calm. It suggests a moment where internal tension, mental, emotional or even physical has huge energy stored up and now must be expelled. This isn’t destruction for its own sake, but a necessary, sacred unravelling. It acts as a pressure valve, inviting you to actively shake out what has been suppressed so balance can return.
Message to the Querent:
The storm in this card is not external, it is one of the soul, mind and body. You may have been holding back tears, words, movements, or truths. It offers permission to release in any form that feels true, breath, dance, cry, shout, write, create. Once the charge is spent, a stillness will return that feels deeply earned, not imposed.
Shadow Sign
While the card encourages release, it also warns of misdirection: venting toward the wrong person, collapsing inward instead of expressing outward. There’s a need to consciously channel the energy, this is not an exuse for emotional outburst without real intention.
Meaning (Reversed)
When reversed, the tornado suggests a resistance to release or suppressed upheaval. Instead of allowing energy to move and clear, you may be bottling it up leading to tension, anxiety, irritability, or even physical symptoms like fatigues or illness.

Message to Querent
“You are being shaped in the dark. What you long for is forming beneath the surface. Let go of logic and dive. Trust what rises.”
Shadow Meaning
In the embrace of its shadow, Sea Shadow whispers of disconnection, the allure of fantastical illusions, and the evasion of truth. One may find oneself drifting through dreams not as a means of creation and understanding, but as an escape from the self. Beware the peril of becoming ensnared in captivating illusions or clinging to a realm of the unreal. This card may reveal buried yearnings or the echoes of past emotions striving to rise to the surface.
When clarity fades into shadow, the sea transforms into murk, shrouded in unknowing. A veil of distortion cloaks your inner visions, stifling intuition like fog smothering the dawn. These waters stir with unacknowledged truths, whispering echoes of avoidance that leave you adrift.
What lies beneath the surface, elusive and obscured? Confusion may weave its intricate patterns, your thoughts entangled in a web of emotional detachment, stifling the vibrant spark of creativity that once flowed freely. The heart's whisper might be lost in the clamor of fear, dreams dimmed, messages garbled.
Dare to delve into the depths. What shadows are you shying away from? Embrace the mist, confront the murk, and seek the brilliance obscured by hesitation. Only by facing what is avoided can clarity be reclaimed, ushering in a tide of renewal where the murky depths yield to luminous insight.
