Maggie In The Rain
Maggie in the Rain (2016)
One of three magpie collage works and the first collage I made while living in Brasil. I have always loved birds; the magpie embodies curiosity and wonder. Highly intelligent and famously mischievous, this species is known for majestic theft and clever puzzle-solving.
This piece combines torn papers, layered textures, and subtle photographic fragments to echo the magpie’s dual nature — elegant and elusive, playful and perceptive. Rain becomes a soft veil that both reveals and obscures, suggesting memory and movement. The composition balances dynamic gesture with careful detail: fragments of color and pattern mimic feathers, while negative space gives the bird room to observe and to scheme.
Maggie in the Rain explores themes of intelligence, adaptation, and the small theatrics of daily life. It is as much a portrait of a singular bird as it is a meditation on curiosity — the impulse to gather, to rearrange, to make something new from found pieces.

The work will be signed, sealed and delivered with a certificate of authority straight from the artists studio.
