The Spiral | Oil Painting

€900.00

The Spiral was inspired by the glorious mountains that surround my home in France. I wanted to create a work that reflects a dream-like scene. The notion of a vortex appearing suddenly in the sky fills us with fear and fascination; the work sits between two ideas. It is of the utmost importance that you feel the warmth and wonder from the painting. I want you to light up and be drawn in towards the silky brushstrokes.

Oil painting is currently my favourite painting medium as it gives a very luxurious and sensual texture.

I want to take you on a journey of dreamy scenes, to ponder and wonder about alternative realities. The Spiral invites the viewer into a landscape where certainty dissolves. A tranquil mountain scene is interrupted by a vast celestial movement that refuses definition. Is it the beginning of a transformation, the closing chapter of a story, or the first sign of an approaching apocalypse?

Rather than offering answers, the painting challenges perception. The calm waters and luminous colours stand in quiet opposition to the powerful vortex above, creating a tension between serenity and chaos. Rich blues, vibrant turquoise and warm peach tones breathe life into the scene, encouraging the eye to linger and the imagination to wander.

This original oil painting explores the fragile space between beauty and uncertainty, reminding us that the same force can be experienced as wonder or as threat—depending on how we each personally perceive the scene.
